Budinger and Bayless named preseason All-Americans by Web site
Two Arizona men’s basketball players were named preseason All-Americans Friday by
www.collegehoops.net.
Forward Chase Budinger was predicted to be a first-team All-American after earning the Pacific 10 Conference Freshman of the Year award last season and guard Jerryd Bayless was dubbed a second-team all-Freshman pick.
The 6-foot-7 Budinger averaged 15.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in 31 outings last season.
Bayless, a 6-foot-3 Phoenix native, averaged 33.2 points, 7.8 boards, 6.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game last year at St. Mary’s High School.
Both McDonald’s All-Americans open the season as teammates on Nov. 13, against NAU in McKale Center.
Wise named Arizona Athletics student-athlete of month by C.A.T.S. staff
Sophomore guard Nic Wise was named the Wildcats’ Student-Athlete of the Month for September by the department’s academic staff Friday.
Wise was one of six student-athletes to be distinguished by the C.A.T.S. (Commitment to an Athlete’s Total Success) staff. The award is presented monthly during the academic year to three female and three male student-athletes.
