Arizona women’s soccer comes back to Tucson for its final game of the season on Friday, Nov. 8. The Wildcats play the ASU Sun Devils at 7 p.m. at the Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.
ASU is currently last place in the Pac-12 conference with zero wins in the conference and a 0-8-2 record. The Wildcats now sit at No. 7 in the Pac-12 after dropping both games last weekend to Cal and Stanford.
In ASU’s last two games, they also played Stanford and University of California, Berkeley away from home. They played Stanford on Oct. 31 where they lost 3-0. The Sun Devils then went on to play Cal where they lost by a final score of 2-1.
So far this season, ASU ranks No. 2 for goals against, conceding 31 goals so far this season. However, they do rank No. 5 for goals scored with 33 goals on the season. They’ll have a lot to handle when they face the Wildcats’ potent attack on Friday.
Although the Wildcats lost both games this weekend, there were positives for them to take away going into their last game of the season and before heading for the playoffs. Jill Aguilera was able to end Stanford’s eight-game shutout streak with two goals.
With her assist this weekend against Stanford, Jada Talley was able to become the first player in program history to record nine goals and eight assists within a season. There’s still one game to play in the season for her to extend her record and playoffs as well. As demonstrated by Aguilera and Talley, the Wildcats’ high octane attack has been firing on all cylinders. For the first time since 2013, three or more Wildcats have five goals or more. Talley leads with nine, Aguilera is second with eight and sophomore standout Brooke Wilson with six.
Watch the Wildcats take on the Sun Devils on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. live at the Mulcahy Soccer Stadium or on the Pac-12 Networks.
