On January 31, 1920, a large crowd gathered in front of Old Main to hear General John J. Pershing dedicate the fountain to 13 UA students who lost their lives in World War One. The fountain was a gift of long-time donor Alexander Berger, whose nephew was one of those students. Take a closer look and you will see 13 spouts on the fountain, one for each of the fallen soldiers.
