A student was cited for fighting with another student in Villa Del Puente Residence Hall, 575 N. Highland Ave., at 8:18 p.m. Feb. 14, reports stated.
Police found blood on a second floor landing in the residence hall when they arrived.
They spoke with the student, who had a cut lip, but he refused medical attention.
He told police the fight was “”a friendly scuffle between teammates.””
When police asked what the fight had been about, he said it was regarding some shoes. The two students were in a different student’s room when the fight started and they began hitting each other.
A resident assistant heard two female residents yelling and trying to stop the fight.
The resident assistant got the two students to leave the resident hall, but one of the students came back in and wouldn’t leave.
Police cited him for disorderly conduct and trespassing.
A shopping bag filled with firecrackers was found at 8:20 a.m. Feb. 15, reports stated.
The bag contained about 100 Black Cat firecrackers and was found in parking lot 8106, 1420 E. Seventh St.
The officer searched the parking lot for information about the firecrackers but was unable to find any.
The officer requested that the firecrackers be destroyed.
A man was arrested for shoplifting at the UA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., Feb. 13, reports stated.
The man was seen leaving the bookstore around 10:35 a.m. with three books headed southbound toward the UA Mall.
A police asked the man if he had been in the bookstore and he said he was sorry because he didn’t pay for the books. He told the officer he was unemployed and thought he could “”get a couple of dollars for the books.””
The man was cited and released and told not to be on UA property without a valid reason.
A student’s car window was smashed in Main Gate Parking Garage, 815 E. Second St., sometime between 5 p.m., Feb. 7, and 11:07 p.m., Feb. 13, reports stated.
A Parking and Transportation employee found the damage and informed the vehicle’s owner.
The student told police no items were missing from the car, but items had been moved from the center console and put onto the driver’s seat.
A wireless microphone was reported stolen from the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., Feb. 12.
An employee told police the microphone was used during a presentation in an auditorium in the Union, Feb. 11.
The employee noticed the microphone was missing from the rest of the equipment at 9 a.m. Feb. 12.
The employee said the microphone could have been taken from a drawer at some point during the presentation.
The microphone belonged to the University of Arizona and was valued at about $400.
A student backed his car into an employee while she was walking across an intersection around noon on Feb. 14.
The employee was walking from the northeast corner of East Second Street and North Tyndall Avenue to the southwest corner when the student backed his vehicle into the woman.
She was struck at the hip by the vehicle’s rear bumper near the middle of the intersection. She lost her balance and landed on her right wrist.
The Tucson Fire Department told the University of Arizona Police that she may have suffered a sprained or broken wrist. She was taken to the University Medical Center by a friend.
The student was cited for unsafe backing and the employee was cited for failing to cross at a crosswalk.
