A man was booked into Pima County Jail the night of April 23 because he ran from police after being pulled over on North Campbell Avenue and East Limberlost Drive, reports stated.
Police pulled the man over for speeding around 7:20 p.m. after noticing the registration on the car was expired.
Five men got out of the car and fled on foot. All of the men were wearing bathing suits and T-shirts.
Police searched the area for the men but didn’t find them. Police searched the car and found marijuana, a pipe and an unloaded handgun.
Police found out whom the car was registered to and called the owner.
The owner said he had not been in the car and did not know who was driving it. The man agreed to meet police at the car.
After he hadn’t showed up for a while, police called the man. The man said he had to change his pants.
Police asked the man why he had to change, and the man said, “”I’m changing my clothes and I’ll be there in a minute,”” reports stated.
The man showed up at about 8:20 p.m., and police recognized him as the man who had been driving the car.
He had changed into shorts and shoes that were too big for him. The man had size 9 feet, but was wearing size 13 shoes. The man said he always buys clothes that are too big for him.
The man admitted that the marijuana found in the car was his and said he had smoked earlier in the day.
The man denied being the driver of the car. He said, “”All I can tell you is I was not driving, I was not in the vehicle and the marijuana is mine,”” reports stated.
The man was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and for fleeing from police.
The man at first wanted to file a report that his car had been stolen. Police told the man if he did he could additionally be cited for giving false information to police.
The man decided not to report the car stolen, reports stated.
A woman’s car that was stolen April 18 was recovered the early morning of April 23 after police found it parked in a Zone 1 lot, 425 N. Freemont Ave., reports stated.
Police noticed the car around 1 a.m. It was taking up two spaces and the ignition looked like it had been damaged.
Police ran the license plate and saw the car had been reported stolen.
Police called the owner of the car and left a message.
Police searched the car and found two screwdrivers and a black leather jacket.
The car was towed by Tucson Wrecker, reports stated.
A student’s $1,200 laptop was stolen sometime between April 21 and April 22 from Park Student Union, 615 N. Park Ave., reports stated.
The student said his laptop was in his backpack and said he had left his backpack at PSU around noon on April 21. The student said he realized he had forgotten the backpack and went back for it a little after midnight April 22.
The student said his backpack was still there but said the laptop was gone.
Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.
A student lost his $180 camera phone at the Social
Sciences building, 1145 E. South Campus Drive, on April 18, reports stated.
The student said he had last seen his phone before his 11 a.m. class. The student said he realized the phone was missing around 12:15 p.m., reports stated.
The driver-side window on a student’s car was broken sometime between April 10 and April 21 while the car was parked at Tyndall Avenue Parking Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., reports stated.
The student told police she parked the car around 7 p.m. on April 10. She said she came back to the car around 5:45 p.m. on April 21 to find the broken window.
There was no other damage to the car.
Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.
