A student was cited for underage drinking at 12:13 a.m. Sunday morning after police saw him staggering across North Cherry Avenue and East Helen Street, reports stated.

The student had red, watery eyes and was swaying from side to side as police talked with him.

When police asked the student his name, they noticed his breath smelled like alcohol, reports stated.

The student reached in his back pocket for his identification and pulled out a pint bottle of rum, reports stated.

Police told the student that wasn’t his ID, but said they would take it anyway.

After several more attempts the student finally found his ID, reports stated.

Police asked him if he had consumed any alcohol and the student said, “”I had a couple of swallows of that rum,”” reports stated.

The student was cited and escorted back to his dorm, where he was released, reports stated.

Two students were cited for underage drinking 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning after one student claimed he had been assaulted in the elevator in Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., reports stated.

Police talked with the student, who said he had been assaulted because the other student had thought someone called him a “”nigger.””

The student said he had been with two friends during the incident. The friends were not students and had left campus after the incident, reports stated.

The student said he was not injured and declined medical treatment, reports stated. The student refused to press charges for the assault.

While police were talking with the student, they noticed his breath smelled like alcohol and he had red, watery eyes, reports stated.

The student admitted to drinking before the incident and was cited and released, reports stated.

Police found the student suspected of assault and asked him to explain what happened.

The student said he had seen the other student with two other males standing outside of another room.

The student and his friends walked away, and the student said he walked over to where they had been standing, reports stated. The student said he saw someone had written “”nigger”” on a white dry-erase board on the door.

The student said he had followed the student and his friends to the elevator to verbally confront them.

As he walked away from the elevator, he said the student and his friends yelled, “”Hey, idiot, your other shoe is in the elevator,”” reports stated.

The student said he walked back to elevator because he had been called an idiot.

The student said everyone started pushing and they all ended up in the elevator going down to the lobby, reports stated.

The student said he didn’t see who hit him because he was bent over and hit on the back.

The student complained of having neck pain but refused medical attention and refused to press charges against the other student and his friends, reports stated.

While police were talking with the student they noticed his breath smelled like alcohol, his speech was slurred and he had watery, bloodshot eyes, reports stated.

The student admitted to drinking before the incident and was cited and released, reports stated.

A student’s lost tennis racquet was found at 2:44 a.m. Sunday in Cellar in the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

The student called police and asked them to hold onto the racquet until he could pick it up on Monday.

The racquet was placed into property for safekeeping, reports stated.

Two students were cited for underage drinking at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning after police saw them walking southbound on North Mountain Avenue across East Speedway Boulevard, reports stated.

Both of the students were stumbling and appeared to be intoxicated. The students also appeared to be under the age of 21, reports stated.

Police stopped to talk with the students and identified both of them as under the age of 21.

The male student’s breath smelled strongly of alcohol, and he admitted to having a “”few”” beers, reports stated.

The female student had slurred speech and watery, bloodshot eyes and also admitted to having a “”few”” beers, reports stated.

Both students swayed while talking with police.

The students were cited and released, reports stated.
