Each year it seems as though the only special thing to do on Valentine’s Day is to go out to eat. But whether you’re with a special someone or flying solo, or even just hanging out with friends, there are more options than just stuffing your face.

For starters, there’s the stuff for everyone who hates the holiday. Level Bar and Lounge is having its third annual F*ck Valentine’s Party, which is free for the ladies and includes all night $5 drinks. Laff’s Comedy Club has a $10 show at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. called “”St. Valentine’s Day Comedy Massacre,”” with comediennes Beth Donahue, Dava Krause and Lorrie Brownstone.

At Club Congress it’s all about love with Switchblade Parade presenting “”Get Your Heart On””, a $5, 21+ cabaret show at 8 p.m. Check out the Temple of Music and Art’s “”Hot Love for Valentine’s”” cabaret for an all-ages show about food and romance, served with a few delicious treats ($20 for 5:30 p.m. show, $15 for 9:30 p.m. show). Also at the Temple of Music and Art is the “”Roots of Choreography Showcase of Dances from the Heart,”” showing new choreography and celebrating with champagne, chocolate and candlelight (7:30 p.m., $17).

Waypoint Theatre Company is putting on some love-themed sketches called “”Seasons of Love”” at the Atria Bell Gardens’ Academy Hall Theatre. Tickets for the play are $10, but for $18 you get dessert before the show, and for $5 Waypoint vocalists will serenade your sweetheart (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.)

Along some pricier but probably well-worth-it lines, Salsa Soulseros is offering a $60 wine social at 5 p.m. at the Karma Day Spa followed by a couple’s lap dance workshop from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Arizona Ballet Theatre.

For something a little more lovey dovey, Abounding Grace Church is offering a free renewal of vows from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Tara Mahayana Buddhist Center is giving a $20 class that will discuss the meaning of real love while participants eat desserts. The Loft Cinema is doing its part this holiday with a showing of “”Moulin Rouge”” for $6 at 7 p.m., complete with a Lady Marmalade sing-along before the show.

Of course, if all that sounds lame, then hopefully you got tickets to see Andrew Bird at the Rialto.
