The assault charge against former Arizona assistant strength and condition coach, Frank Davis, was dropped on Thursday.
The alleged victim, Brandon Santa-Cruz, agreed to drop the charge and in an exchange, Davis, 31, has dropped the defamation suit he filed against Santa-Cruz.
Santa-Cruz, 21, is a current UA student and former football team manager, who said Davis assaulted him following the Arizona loss to Arizona State at Arizona Stadium on Nov. 23, 2012.
Santa-Cruz claimed Davis, a former NFL offensive lineman from 2006-08, had bullied him throughout the season and after the loss to the Sun Devils, physically assaulted him by punching him and body slamming him into a table.
Following the initial charges Davis, who was in his first year as an assistant coach, was suspended with pay by the university. However, he did not have his contract renewed with when it expired in late June.
The case took roughly five months but came to an end with a joint agreement in which the two parties agreed to their difference. The Pima County Attorney reviewed the agreement and decided that closing the case was a fair outcome.
Santa-Cruz is also no longer with the UA football team. The business management senior began working in event management department after the altercation.
