Graham-Greenlee dorm, located along Highland Avenue here at the University of Arizona, is home to nearly 300 (Correction: over 300) students — and the grisliest murder scene in UA history.
I’m Eddie Celaya, and this is UA Minute in History.
Established in 1955, the dorm is known for its interior courtyard lined by rooms and walkways on three sides and is home to the Health Sciences theme community, one of many themed communities offered around campus.
The dorm is also known for a darker story. In August 2007, roommates Mia J. Henderson and Galereka Harrison were reportedly involved in a fight over an alleged theft committed by Harrison of Henderson’s property, according to police reports.
About one week, later on September 5, Henderson was found in her dorm room, stabbed over 20 times in her sleep. She later died at the hospital. Two weeks later, Harrison was convicted of the murder and theft, as well as forgery.
She had forged a suicide note, which claimed Henderson had made up the theft and died by suicide. Harrison was later sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Now, the only thing scary about Graham-Greenlee is its seasonal, Harry Potter inspired haunted house, Hogoween, where the dorm transforms into a Southern Arizona Hogwarts for the season.
