A man was arrested for possession of marijuana Sept. 1 after saying it belonged to his father.
An officer was traveling westbound on East First Street when a vehicle drove past going the wrong way on a one-way street.
The officer performed a U-turn and pulled the vehicle over in front of the University of Arizona Police Department station, 1852 E. First St. The officer noted a strong scent of marijuana coming from the car. Dispatch informed the officer that the vehicle’s out-of-state registration had expired in March. After searching the vehicle, the officer found a small amount of marijuana in the glove compartment.
The driver claimed that he borrowed the car from his father, who smokes marijuana from time to time, and that he was unaware of the drugs. The father was contacted and denied knowledge of the drugs.
The driver was cited and released.
A woman retrieving lost property from the UAPD station was arrested for underage drinking and possession of a fictitious driver’s license Sept. 1.
A police officer was documenting a found-property case when a fictitious Texas driver’s license was found alongside a legitimate Illinois driver’s license. When the woman came to retrieve the purse being inspected, she was questioned about the fake ID and said it belonged to her roommate.
The police officer asked for the roommate’s phone number to confirm the story, but the woman claimed she could not remember it. The officer noted a light odor of intoxicants on the woman’s breath, and told her so. She changed her story and admitted to drinking at a speed-dating event that night.
The fictitious license was confiscated, and the woman was cited and released.
A woman had her wallet, keys and cell phone stolen from her purse near the Sigma Pi fraternity house, 1525 E. Drachman St., Sept. 1.
She became aware of the missing items while riding a bus in the area. She reported there was no reason to believe the items fell out of her purse, because it was in a secure position.
When the woman called to cancel her phone service, she learned that the phone had been used by an unauthorized person since it’d gone missing.
The woman does not wish to pursue charges. Police have no suspects or witnesses.

An officer saw the two men appearing to runaway in the alley between the Psychology building and Steward Observatory, 933 N. Cherry Ave.
The officer encountered them a few minutes later, and they claimed that they removed the seat to a red bike to see how easy it was. They said they did not steal anything and that they did not see the patrol car earlier but began running to race each other.

An officer cited a passenger in a vehicle for littering near East Sixth Street and North Park Avenue Sept. 1.
The officer was at a red traffic light in the left turn lane facing north on North Park Avenue. The passenger opened the front door and poured out a liquid substance onto the street. The light turned green, and the vehicle turned west.
The officer observed the passenger drop a can onto the street and pulled over the car. The passenger claimed she did not like the taste of her energy drink and decided to pour it out of the car when the bottle slipped from her hand. When asked why she didn’t pick it up, she said that there was too much traffic.
She was released at the scene.
