The Arizona women’s golf team finished in sixth place at the Wildcat Invitational, a three-day competition held in Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
Arizona finished the first round Sunday tied for 12th with UNLV but moved up five spots Monday thanks to freshman Nikki Koller’s eagle on a par-4 11th hole at Peninsula Golf Club.
“”She played fantastic and we’re very excited about that,”” UA head coach Shelly Haywood said of Koller. Her tournament low (Monday) was 69 and she’s just going to keep getting better.””
The Wildcats finished seventh place on Monday after shooting a 311 in the opening round.
“”We had a little bit of a rough start on the first day and we played well (Monday) and again (Tuesday),”” Haywood said. “”We moved up a few spots (Tuesday), too, so I’m pretty excited about that.””
UCLA finished with a 5-over-par total to win the team standings while New Mexico’s Jodi Ewart finished tied for first with Lizette Salas of USC, shooting a 3-under-par 213.
Alejandra Llaneza was the top finisher for the Wildcats, shooting a 4-over-par 220.
