No Child Left Behind Act needs work, Grijalva says

The federal government either needs to drastically retool the No Child Left Behind Act, a law regulating public school performance, or throw it out entirely, Rep. UA community calls for cutting CO2 emissions

UA students and faculty held an event Saturday as part of a national petition to Congress to cut carbon dioxide emissions. Step It Up 2007: Cut Carbon 80 Percent by 2050 was held in more than 1,400 cities across the nation as a way to urge Congress to prevent global warming in a collaborative event as large as the first Earth Day in 1970, according to the Step It Up Web site.

Last week, Gov. Janet Napolitano signed into law a bill that adds wild honeybees to the list of public nuisances because they endanger public health.

Text-messaging company explores options

A Tucson-based company has been exploring a new method for sharing information between groups and companies - text-messaging. Syzygic, LLC operates a Web site, intextmessage.com, on which users can join groups and receive text messages from members within that group, said John Hand IV, the company's founder and co-president.

National Bone Marrow Registry drive The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association will hold a bone marrow registry drive today to recruit donors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Medical Center Cafeteria, Room F. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 who meets the health guidelines can register.
