Football picked to finish seventh in Pac-10

LOS ANGELES - It was practically a given where the media would rank USC when they announced the preseason predictions Thursday at the Pacific 10 Conference Media Day. The five-time defending conference champions were only one vote shy of being the unanimous favorite to win the Pac-10 for the sixth straight year.

Construction begins on $650,000 curtain

There were changes high above Lute and Bobbi Olson Court Monday afternoon in McKale Center. Long ropes hung from the rafters lining the perimeter of the arena. Soon enough, a giant navy blue curtain adorned with Arizona logos will hang from those ropes, cutting off much of the stadium's capacity and bringing the available seating down from its original 14,545 seats to a modest 4,181.

McClellan set for Eurotrip

Brandon Jennings isn't the only basketball player with recent UA ties heading to Europe next season. After getting a chance to strut his stuff with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, an injury dropped former Wildcat Jawann McClellan from the summer team, delaying his dreams of making it to the NBA.

Olympics allows athletes to share spotlight

Throughout the years Arizona has earned the nickname "Point Guard U," much in part to the brilliant ability of men's basketball coach Lute Olson to get his guards to the promised land that is the NBA. But now it is time for a change. The current nickname simply does not do justice to a school that has become much more than a farm system for future millionaire ballers.
