PTS: Higher prices charged on game days for students' benefit

This season's UA football games are seeing more than a rise in fan interest, as game day parking brings droves of off-campus traffic into UA parking garages.
During university events, including men's football and basketball games, parking is often restricted to individuals willing to pay campus parking fees.

The two candidates for the open seat on the Associated Students of the University of Arizona Senate engaged in a public debate last night, in which they outlined their different plans should they win the special election that will occur Sept. 17.
Andre Rubio, a political science junior, said that his platform for election includes increasing campus-wide diversity emphasis, new student financial education, club outreach and more stringent campus safety regulations.
Breath test accuracy questioned
Evidence against 19 people accused of driving while drunk in Tucson has been tossed by a judge because of questions about the breath test machines used by police.
Tucson City Court Judge Margarita Bernal ruled that there are significant questions about the reliability of the Intoxilyzer 8000 machines and software used in Arizona.

As election season approaches, social justice and equality issues continue to rise to the forefront of public discussion. Students can educate themselves about the topics through a series of workshops at the UA, the first of which debuted last night.
"Oppression is painful," said Jennifer Hoefle, senior coordinator of Social Justice Programs.

Mary Ann Campau was always an avid supporter of local poets and the UA Poetry Center. She even hosted free poetry workshops in her own home up until her death in 2005.
Now the Poetry Center is passing on that support in the form of the Mary Ann Campau Memorial Fellowship.
