Mistakes, missed opportunities doom Arizona in one-point loss

PALO ALTO, Calif. - For the second consecutive year, the Arizona football team (4-2, 2-1 Pacific 10 Conference) lost to Stanford (4-3, 3-1) by one point, this time in a 24-23 defeat. Despite a statistically good showing from the Arizona offense, the unit struggled to find the end zone that proved to be the difference in the game.

Arizona soccer head coach Dan Tobias showed his team a special video last Friday. The film was a collage of highlights and lowlights from the season up to that point. The message must have been clear as the Wildcats shutout their final nonconference opponent, Santa Clara, 2-0 last Sunday.

Volleyball to face 2 top-five teams

It's hard enough playing one top-5 team in a weekend. The Arizona volleyball team is on the road for the second straight weekend and will stop in the Bay Area tonight to play No. 4 Stanford (13-2, 4-0) at 7. The squad will then trek out to No. 5 California (14-1, 4-0) Saturday at the same time.

Softball plays last fall exhibitions

Two Arizona freshman softball players were asked separately to define the Wildcat program with just a couple of words. Funny thing: They both said, "Hard work." The players were catcher Lini Koria and outfielder Karissa Buchanan. Along with the rest of the team, they'll be playing in their final fall games this weekend.
