Snow takes toll on UA

Tucson's recent chilly weather will cost the UA thousands of dollars in repairs - a price that could hurt departments' already slim budgets. The $3.5 million deductible the university pays each year may not cover all costs for unscheduled maintenance, said Steve Holland, director of UA Risk Management and Safety.

Textbook loans only temporary

After garnering support and contributions from the UA Bookstores, UA Libraries and nonprofit organizations, the Associated Students of the University of Arizona successfully started their pilot Textbook Loans program at the beginning of this semester. "The Textbook Loans program is something that the UA Libraries has been open to since ASUA came to us with the idea last fall," said Robyn Huff-Eibl, a member of the materials access team for the UA Libraries and a library specialist.

New section, seniors to graduate with rest of class

The journalism department this week added an additional section of a required class that will allow seniors who had been unable to add the class to graduate as expected in May. The fifth section of journalism 413, Reporting Public Affairs, will be taught by professor David Cuillier, who will now teach two sections.

The UA High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera receives 10 new images of Mars every day, giving scientists the opportunity to learn more about the planet constantly, said professor Alfred McEwen of the University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, the principal investigator for HiRISE.
