It's been known for a while but it was officially announced Monday that UA assistant coach Josh Pastner is leaving for Memphis to be an assistant coach and a lead recruiter. Pastner, who has had ties with the Wildcats as a walk-on player and a coach for 12 years, said Memphis head coach John Calipari called him about the job a few weeks ago and he flew to Memphis last week to put the final touches on the deal.

Josh Pastner will join the University of Memphis men's basketball staff as an assistant coach and lead recruiter, according to multiple reports which have cited sources with knowledge of the situation. Pastner, who's been with the Arizona program for 12 years, has accepted the job unofficially, as the school can't officially name him the new coach until Pastner completes a formal interview process, which is required under state regulations.

UA sophomore Nic Wise is still unsure if he'll stay with the Arizona men's basketball team or transfer to another school. The guard observed his former AAU team, Houston Hoops, Friday night at the Arizona Cactus Classic in McKale Center. Wise was with his brother, Dondre Wise, and teammates Zane Johnson, David Bagga and Fendi Onobun, another former Houston Hoops player.

Eugene Sander and UA President Robert Shelton made a deal last year when Shelton asked Sander to take over provost duties at the UA. "Now look here! We're really going to get some things done," Sander said to Shelton. "None of this interim stuff." The moment defined Sander's tenure as provost, a position responsible for overseeing all of the university's academic programs and units.
