Former Post University assistant coach Luke Murray – the son of actor Bill Murray – has joined the University of Arizona men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant, head coach Sean Miller announced today.

"I am tremendously excited to join the men's basketball staff at the University of Arizona ," Murray said through the athletics department. "For me, working at Arizona, particularly under Coach Miller, is a dream opportunity, and I eagerly await the start of the 2009-10 season."

At the Waterbury, Conn., Division II school, Murray helped coach last years squad to a 17-10 record.

He also has experience in the A.A.U. circuit, coaching for club teams like the New York Gauchos, where he worked with current Arizona assistant Emanuel “Book” Richardson.

Murray graduated from Fairfield University in 2007.

Congratulations, Luke. Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye and good luck in person. Post's loss is definitely Arizona's gain. I look forward to watching you recruit AND coach your own team at some point in the not too distant future. Take care and come back and visit us at Post any time!

This hire is being done to help continue the NYC pipeline from the Gauchos program. Book started working on them for us at X and now he and Murray can continue. The kid is a GA, not a bad hire in terms of bolstering the NYC base. Smart move for Sean....
