The Arizona baseball team mounted a tremendous comeback in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium and won 16-6. The game marked the opening exhibition game for Chip Hale’s squad’s fall ball schedule.
Coming off a Cinderella run to the College World Series, the Wildcats’ biggest deficit was 6-1 against the powerhouse Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Mexican Pacific League.
Down 4-0 through the first inning, the reigning Big 12 tournament champions stayed resilient and took advantage of the several errors and walks the Naranjeros committed. This allowed Arizona to have constant and numerous runners on the base paths and score to achieve the victory.
The Wildcats will return to Hi Corbett Field for their second exhibition game and will host Pima Community College on Friday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m.
