The University of Arizona volleyball team (11-9, 5-5 in Big 12) returns home after being on the road this week to take on No. 13 TCU. The teams will face each other on Friday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m. in McKale Center.
History vs. TCU
This will be the third meeting between the Wildcats and Horned Frogs. The first time they met was on Sept. 7, 2012 in Tucson where TCU won in four sets. It wasn’t until 12 years later, on Sept. 27, 2024, that the teams faced each other again in the Schollmaier Arena. The Frogs took a clean sweep victory this game, holding an undefeated 2-0 record against Arizona.
TCU this season
TCU is currently 16-6 overall and 6-4 in the Big 12. They have been on the road in Arizona this week, taking on ASU on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Desert Financial Arena. Like the Wildcats, TCU lost to ASU. This marked their third consecutive loss and fourth overall in conference play.
So far this season, sophomore outside hitter and Scottsdale native Evan Hendrix has been essential to the team, collecting 339 kills. She’s followed by redshirt sophomore outside hitter Becca Kelley with 255 kills. On defense, sophomore Alice Volpe leads the Horned Frogs with 323 digs for this season.
Arizona this season
Arizona is also coming into this match after a loss against Texas Tech University on Wednesday, Oct. 29, where the Wildcats lost in three sets. The program is currently tied at 5-5 for their conference season games.
Sophomore setter Avery Scoggins was essential for the offense against Texas Tech with 32 assists. So far this season, Scoggins has collected 756 assists. Outside hitter Jordan Wilson had the highest amount of kills at 14, bringing her season total to 324.
The Wildcats are hoping to make a comeback in this game, using the home advantage to break their three straight losses.
