The University of Arizona volleyball team (14-9, 8-5 in Big 12) is traveling into enemy territory to fight against ASU. The two teams will match up this Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Desert Financial Arena. This game will be streamed on ESPN+ for Arizona fans to watch while the Wildcats are on the road.
History vs ASU
This is the second time the rivals have gone head-to-head this season. Arizona and ASU met back on Oct. 25 in McKale Center where the Wildcats lost in four sets. That marked the Wildcats’ fifth consecutive loss against ASU.
Arizona senior Jordan Wilson collected the most kills for Arizona during this match with 19, followed by Carlie Cisneros, who tallied nine. ASU outside hitter Bailey Miller got the most kills for ASU, tying with Wilson at 19.
ASU this season
The Sun Devils are coming into this match off a win against No. 21 BYU, where they won in four sets. Miller also led the Sun Devils with the most kills against BYU tallying 20. Sydney Henry collected 2 aces followed by Jillian Neal who tallied 1. Sophomore libero Faith Frame led defense, recording 17 digs, which marked the 13th match Frame has recorded double digits in digs.
This match marked the second of three straight home games for the Sun Devils. Before BYU, they played Texas Tech University and won in a clean sweep. ASU is currently undefeated in all of their home games this season, and they have only lost 1-of-12 conference games this season against Iowa State University.
Arizona this season
Arizona is coming into this game after winning three consecutive games at home. Most recently, they beat Texas Tech in four sets where Cisneros led the Wildcats on offense with 18 kills. Sophomore setter Avery Scoggins was essential for the Arizona victory, tallying 44 assists, nine digs and four blocks.
The Wildcats are hoping to keep up their momentum from their previous wins as they prepare to take on ASU. There are only five games remaining in the conference season, and the Wildcats are currently 8-5.
