The annual Rate Bowl kicked off on Dec. 26 inside Chase Field in Phoenix. The University of Minnesota would walk off the University of New Mexico in overtime to win their ninth straight bowl game which is the longest active streak in the nation and now tied for second all time.
New Mexico recorded the longest touchdown in Rate Bowl history to tie the game during the fourth quarter. Receiver Jalen Smith recorded two diving touchdowns which includes the walk off score for Minnesota and winning offensive player of the game. Minnesota ends the season 8-5.
