The University of Arizona volleyball team (17-13, 10-8 in Big 12) closed out its season after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2025. The Wildcats made a valiant effort against Stanford University yet ultimately fell short, ending their postseason run. The team had an excellent season, showcasing the great talent on the team.
Northern Colorado University exhibition game
The Wildcats opened their season with an exhibition match at home on Saturday, Aug. 23 against Northern Colorado University. Arizona won in four sets (25-22, 25-21, 28-26, 25-22) to win the match 4-0.
Alabama State University
Arizona took on Alabama State University in McKale Center for the Wildcat Classic on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 winning in a clean sweep (25-16, 25-15, 25-20). Senior Jordan Wilson and sophomore Carlie Cisneros tied for the highest number of kills tallying 10 each.
Texas A&M — Corpus Christi
The Wildcats earned their second victory (25-18, 25-19, 25-13) of the weekend on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 against Texas A&M — Corpus Christi. Arizona controlled the match from the start, out-hitting A&M and not looking back.
California State University, Fresno
Arizona finished out the Wildcat Classic on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025 at home, defeating California State University, Fresno in their third consecutive clean sweep (25-20, 25-16, 25-20). This was the Wildcats’ fourth consecutive win, keeping them undefeated. Cisneros led the team with 13 kills followed by Wilson with 12 kills.
Oregon State University
The next weekend, the Wildcats began the Boise State Tournament, starting the weekend with a win on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, against Oregon State University. They took down the Beavers in a close four-set match (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 27-25). The team racked up 58 kills total and had a hitting percentage of .224 throughout the match.
Boise State University
Arizona remained on the road on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025 to take on Boise State University in the second match of the Boise State Tournament. They improved to 5-0 with another victory, this time in five sets (21-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19, 21-19). Arizona recorded a season highest kills at 77 with a hitting percentage of .236.
This match broke several records for the Wildcats, as three Arizona players reached double figures in kills and two players recorded double-doubles. Wilson led the offense with 22 kills, followed by Ana Heath, who set a career high with 19. Avery Scoggins also set a career high with 61 assists and 18 digs.
University of California, San Diego
Arizona finished out the Boise State Tournament with a clean sweep (25-16, 25-16, 25-22) against the University of California, San Diego. Wilson was named the MVP of the Boise State Tournament, and Heath and Scoggins made the all-tournament team.
Late in the third set, the Wildcats took the lead 18-17, and Adrianna Bridges and Cisneros were essential to grasping the final win. They each tallied 3 kills and Bridges got two blocks. Wilson also put down a pair of service aces ending the game with an Arizona win.
University of Washington
The Wildcats entered the Washington Tournament undefeated at 6-0. The Wildcats fought a hard match against the University of Washington on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 and fell in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-22).
This was the first loss of the season for the Wildcats. Arizona did not let this discourage them and still put up a good fight with Cisneros and Scoggins both reaching double-doubles. Cisneros recorded 10 kills and 10 digs then Scoggins had 32 assists and 12 digs.
University of San Diego
The next day, Arizona suffered a heartbreaking five-set loss to the University of San Diego (31-29, 25-19, 20-25, 20-25, 16-14). Wilson led offense with 26 kills, and Sydnie Vanek led the defense with four blocks. Arizona controlled the third and fourth set, but it wasn’t enough to take the win as San Diego took the fifth set from serving 3 aces.
University of Texas at El Paso
After being on the road, the Wildcats returned home on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025 to face the University of Texas at El Paso. Arizona was not able to capitalize on home-court advantage, as they lost their third consecutive match to the Miners in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18). UTEP took the first set as they immediately went on a 4-point scoring run and Arizona was unable to catch up after that.
Scoggins was a bright spot for the Wildcats, recording another double-double with 41 assists and 15 digs.
University of Nebraska
To round out the non-conference schedule, Arizona went back on the road on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 where they continued their losing streak against the University of Nebraska. At the time, Nebraska was No. 1 and they beat Arizona in three sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-18).
The Wildcats attempted to close the gap throughout the game but was unable to sustain momentum, allowing Nebraska to take each set.
Kansas State University
Arizona opened Big 12 play strong with a victory (25-19, 25-19, 25-14, 27-25) against Kansas State University on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025. The Wildcats collected eight aces and nine blocks throughout the game to take down Kansas State.
After four straight losses, this match brought back momentum and confidence for the Wildcats as they headed into their conference games.
University of Kansas
The Wildcats remained in the midwest this weekend to take on the University of Kansas, where they were defeated in three sets (25-15, 25-22, 25-19). Cisneros was the top scorer this match with 7 kills, followed by Bridges who had 5 kills and five blocks.
University of Utah
After a tough loss, Arizona returned home for the Big 12 homer opener on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025 against the University of Utah. The Wildcats clinched an upset five-set victory (23-25, 25-12, 17-25, 26-24, 15-13) over the Utes. Arizona had a .213 hitting percentage whereas the Utes had a .181 hitting percentage throughout the game.
The teams met again on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 this time in Utah, where the Utes took revenge and took another five-set win (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 29-31, 15-6).
University of Colorado, Boulder
Arizona hosted the University of Colorado, Boulder on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025 where they lost in four sets (25-23, 26-28, 25-18, 25-22). Over the course of the match, Arizona served 6 aces; three being from Brenna Ginder, two from Wilson and one from Cisneros.
Baylor University
The last game of three consecutive home games for Arizona on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 was an upset victory (25-21, 32-30, 25-23) against Baylor University. This victory moved the Wildcats to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play. The Bears fought closely to the Wildcats, especially in the second set after the teams tied with 14 points and remained close until Arizona finally took the 32-30 win.
University of Central Florida
Arizona returned to the road the following week on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 where they took a win against the University of Central Florida in four sets (26-24, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17). Bridges and Britt Carlson anchored the defense for Arizona tallying four blocks each, followed by Journey Tucker with three blocks.
University of Houston
The Wildcats traveled to Texas and picked up their third consecutive victory (25-18, 20-25, 26-24, 25-19) against the University of Houston on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025. Wilson was the top scorer and recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 24 digs.
Iowa State University
Finishing out their road trip on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, the Wildcats faced Iowa State University where they fell in a devastating three-set defeat (25-19, 25-19, 25-23). Iowa took the first set as it took Arizona a while to find their footing. In the third set, they were able to tie the set 15-15. This was the closest Arizona got to the Cyclones as they hung on throughout the end of the third set until Iowa took the win 25-23.
Arizona State University
Back in McKale Center on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025 the Wildcats fell to their rivals ASU in four sets (25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16). ASU was ranked No. 6 at the time. The top scorers for Arizona were Wilson tallying 19 kills followed by Ginder getting 16 digs.
The teams met again on Thursday, Nov. 13, in Tempe, where the Sun Devils took another four set victory (25-11, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22). The Sun Devils gained an early advantage in the first set and the Wildcats were unable to catch up. They came back in the second set, but fell in the final two which lost them the game.
Texas Tech University
The Wildcats dropped their third consecutive match against Texas Tech University on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 in three sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-23). The Red Raiders controlled the match from the start.
Arizona earned redemption a few weeks later on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, with a four-set win at home (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-17). The top scorers for the Wildcats were Cisneros tallying 18 kills, Ginder collecting 23 digs and Tucker with six blocks.
Texas Christian University
Arizona returned home against Texas Christian University, earning a sweep (25-16, 25-23, 26-24). The second set went back and forth, but four blocks by Tucker and Renee Jones helped the Wildcats win the set.
BYU
Arizona took another home victory over BYU on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025 in four sets (26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24). Wilson and Cisneros led the offense while Bridges and Tucker held defense.
A few weeks later, BYU hosted Arizona on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 and defeated the Wildcats in four sets (25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18). The Wildcats held a .339 hitting percentage while the Cougars had a .369 hitting percentage along with 7 aces.
West Virginia University
After being on the road, Arizona returned home for their last two home games. They took a clean sweep victory (25-16, 25-22, 25-12) against West Virginia University on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025. The Wildcats dominated, especially in the third set securing a 13 point win over the Mountaineers.
University of Cincinnati
Arizona rounded out their regular season games on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025 with a senior day victory against the University of Cincinnati in four sets (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-12). Jones anchored the defense with nine blocks, followed by Vanek with six. Cisneros led offense for the Wildcats with 19 kills and 16 digs.
South Dakota State University
The Wildcats took to the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 against South Dakota State University with a four set victory (25-21, 22-25, 25-15, 25-15). Wilson was essential, recording 24 kills and five blocks which was a season high. This allowed them to advance to the next round the following day.
Stanford University
Arizona’s season came to an end after a devastating loss against Stanford University on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025. The Wildcats put up a good fight, but Stanford ended up taking the victory in four sets (25-16, 25-27, 25-17, 25-20).
