The bright pink new business on the corner of Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue is hard to miss but easy to love, selling bento cakes, cookies, brownies and colorful drinks.
Owner Christa Lebron started her business out of her apartment in 2021. She ran it by herself part-time, participating in a few pop-ups until her husband, Joseph Lebron, joined her in the business.
“I’ve always been very creative and my favorite color is pink. So I wanted to find a way to bring something fun and unique to Tucson, Arizona,” Christa Lebron said. “So the way I was able to come up with this concept was just a lot of social media research on creators, whether it was through art, fashion, food, desserts, and at some point it just clicked in my brain that I really want to enter into this department of cutesy, aesthetic, pink, girly, trendy, Pinterest vibes, and from that blossomed Chez Peachy.”
Christa Lebron most definitely reached her goal for the building and aesthetic of her business, with the pink tables and chairs, flower walls and ceilings, pink doors and pink aprons you’ll see her and the employees working in.
Her mission for her business is to bring something fun and unique to Tucson.
“It’s something for people to bring out their inner child, because I feel like a lot of the things we project in our business promotes a lot of joy and a lot of happiness,” Christa Lebron said.
Chez Peachy’s new location has been open for about two weeks and has received a lot of love, but it has definitely been a new learning experience for the couple, according to Christa Lebron.
“I love it. Honestly, it’s been a little stressful trying to navigate it because it’s uncharted territory for us. We’ve never owned a bakery before. Just figuring out how much to make a day. But we feel like we’ve been doing pretty good for the past 10 days, and it’s been really looking great for our customers, enjoying our experience, so that’s really what we’re grateful for,” Christa Lebron said.
This business not only includes the Lebron couple but also her brother-in-law, Ian Lebron. He is one of the faces behind the scenes baking the bento cakes and goodies that customers seem to love.
Like Christa’s husband, Ian Lebron has been with the business from the beginning, helping to set up pop-up events.
“When it was pop-ups I used to help with making cookie doughs and stuff like that. So I found it fun. I enjoyed it and it fulfilled a spot that we needed filled,” Ian Lebron said.
As you pass by the new shop, you will often see people enjoying their drinks outside and taking pictures of their new treats.
Armando Cruz was a first time customer of Chez Peachy, trying out one of their bento cakes and the Matcha Strawberry Bliss that he saw on Instagram.
“Beautiful. I love the way it looks and just the presentation alone: That’s what got me,” Cruz said.
The atmosphere of a place like Chez Peachy is also a notable feature of the business.
“She’s really nice, just the same person that you see on Instagram, the same person that you see when you walk through the door,” Cruz said, referring to Christa Lebron. “So that’s awesome to get that wide open welcome.”
The owners and employees of Chez Peachy have experienced a lot of business from their customers so far, and Christa Lebron says she looks forward to whatever the future may hold for her and her bakery.
The bakery is currently open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit chezpeachy.com and the bakery’s Instagram page for more information.
