Chain Gang applications available
Chain Gang Junior Honorary applications are available in the ASUA Office and will be due by noon March 9. Applicants should demonstrate academic achievement, participation in university organizations and contribution to the Tucson community. All sophomores with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 are encouraged to apply.
The sweet path to longevity
Studies funded by chocolate company Mars Inc. suggest that eating chocolate can prevent strokes and fatigue. Flavanols found in cocoa increase blood flow to the brain, which can prevent vascular impairments, which are common among the elderly.
Freshmen make better bikers?
Of America’s 85 million bicycle riders, 540,000 visit emergency rooms with crash-related injuries each year, according to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute. Data from the National Highway Safety Institute showed that bicycle accident rates for people ages 21-24 increased 78 percent from 2004-2005. People in the 16-20 demographic, however, saw a 6 percent decrease in crashes.
