The Arizona Daily Wildcat has announced that it has signed Roman Veytsman (that’s me) to a one-semester $3.87 million deal to be the sports editor. The unprecedented deal, which also provides me with a private jet a la Kevin Brown, requires me to continue the great Wildcat sports section tradition that past sports editors have trailblazed.

All joking aside, though, (you may be surprised to learn I don’t do that much), I’m here to make sure you know every last detail about Arizona Wildcats sports.

And this semester, we’re going to let you speak out. Whether you think you can draw up a better play at the end of the Washington State game or you want to know what Mike Stoops’ favorite snack is, my goal is to let you be heard and walk away with some extra knowledge.

Every Tuesday, the CatScratch feature on Page 2 of sports will have a sports mailbag section where our staff will answer your sports questions and give you a chance to make comments not just about the articles but about Arizona’s teams and players. We’ll even throw out some trivia questions. Send your spiffy comments and questions to sports@wildcat.arizona.edu.

In addition, CatScratch will give you Numbers Game Mondays, where we’ll bombard with you more important statistics than John Hollinger; Athlete of the Week Wednesday, where we celebrate the best of the week’s performers; Pro/Con Thursday, where we’ll debate Arizona sports’ hottest topics; and Staff Picks Friday where we’ll tell you who to bet on during the weekend.

Of course, we’ll still have all the in-depth coverage and breaking news you could ever want.

So let us know what you want and we won’t drop the ball. I’ll do everything I can to be more L.T. and less T.O.

Welcome to the spring semester, we’ve got fun and games.
