The Arizona mens basketball defeated the Utah Utes 82-62 on Saturday night. They now move to 14-1 on the season and 4-0 in Pac-12 conference play.

Arizona broke open this game in the second half, after trialing by six throughout the first half.

Azuolas Tubelis was on fire in this game, scoring 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists. After a few mediocre performances throughout the past month, he showed everyone that he is still a very good player. 32 points is now his career high throughout his time at Arizona.

The Wildcats have struggled to shoot the ball from three-point land from time-to-time this season and it continued tonight despite a victory. They finished the game 3-18 from deep and couldn’t get anything going from there throughout the entire game.

Christian Koloko was perfect from the field (7-7) against the Utes, scoring 16 points to go along with five rebounds and four blocks.

The Wildcats had 17 combined steals and blocks on the game, while holding Utah to shoot under 40 percent from the field and three-point land.

Head coach Tommy Lloyd shortened the rotation after Kerr Kriisa was unable to play in the game due to non-COVID-19 precautionary reasons.

After the game, Lloyd stated Kriisa was not available to play because he was “horsing around” before the game. He suffered an injury but it is not known what he injured. Lloyd also said the injury shouldn’t keep Kriisa out of the team’s practice’s next week.

He also discussed an issue he sees appearing throughout their upcoming three-game road trip.

“Our biggest concern is having a strong culture that can handle adversity,” Lloyd said.

After a few teams in the current top-three of the AP poll suffered a few losses, the Wildcats appear to be moving inside the top three.

The number one team in the country, Baylor suffered two losses to Texas Tech and Oklahoma state. Conference rival, UCLA, also lost to an un-ranked Oregon Ducks team earlier in the week. The USC Trojans also were defeated by the Stanford Cardinal team by six points.

Arizona doesn’t play again until January 20th in Stanford, California against the 9-4 Cardinal mens basketball team at 9:00 P.M.
