    3 Things to know today

    Run, turkeys, run!

    About 265 million turkeys were raised in the U.S. for food in 2006, and 46 million will be eaten on Thanksgiving, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service.

    Watch out for Sun Devils

    As tradition has it, during the week of the UA/ASU football game, students from both schools try to paint their rival school’s “”A”” mountain, which is usually guarded by students on a 24/7 watch. Tucson’s “”A”” mountain, also known as Sentinel Peak, was built after the Wildcats’ victory over Pomona College on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 6, 1914.

    Holiday break

    The UA will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving recess. Classes will resume Monday, Nov. 27.
