Hollywood loves throwing old ideas at us in a new, pretty package. This week marks the release of a new Ninja Turtles movie and a sequel to a recent bloody horror flick. If those don’t float your boat, The Loft Cinema is playing a classic that you’ll probably love.
“”Reign Over Me””
Although the idea of Adam Sandler playing a serious role might keep UA students from seeing this flick, the gripping storyline should at least tempt you. Sandler moves in with his former college roommate (Don Cheadle) after the 9/11 attacks take his family and job away from him. Bring your tissues for this one.
“”The Princess Bride””
This is likely another childhood favorite of students. Although you may know every line, keep quiet so someone doesn’t throw his or her popcorn at you. See this classic at The Loft Cinema tonight and tomorrow at 10 p.m.
“”The Hills Have Eyes 2″”
Yes: another damn sequel. If you’re in the mood for a gruesome borderline B-movie, this is your ticket. TV ads for this horror film have promised extra gore and nastiness.
“”300″”
This is the movie everyone is talking about. If you haven’t seen it, you’ve probably been left out of a lot of conversations. Time to witness its epic violence so you can talk to your friends again.
“”Shooter””
This film sees our old friend Mark Wahlberg play an Army sniper with a few problems. Marky Mark sets his sights (and his rifle) on some powerful world leaders. The story is based on Stephen Hunter’s novel “”Point of Impact.””
