    Student regent applications available

    Applications for the Arizona Board of Regents’ student regent position are available online at Student regents serve two years: one as a non-voting regent and one as a voting regent. This year’s student regent will be selected from the UA. Applications are due Jan. 23, and all students are encouraged to apply. For more information, call 621-2782.

    Poetry contest

    The 15th Hearst Undergraduate Poetry Contest is seeking submissions of lyrical or populist poetry. Dr. Marlys H. Witte, a professor of surgery, holds the contest in honor of her late parents Frederica and John Hearst. Two prizes of $300 and four $50 runners-up will be awarded. Deadline for submissions is 4:30 p.m. Feb. 12. For more information, call 626-6118.

    Fitness Jam

    The Student Recreation Center will hold a free sample fitness class today at 5:30 p.m. in Room B. The class includes jazz, cardio kickboxing, “”HoopDance,”” belly dancing and pilates. For more information, call 621-8717.
