    Help with ‘SmilePacks’ for orphans

Children of the Nations will be on the UA Mall today through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. collecting hygiene items for “”SmilePacks”” that will be donated to orphans in Sierra Leone. The country is recovering from a 10-year civil war that left more than 10,000 children orphaned. Sierra Leone has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, partly because it lacks necessities for basic health care. For more info, check out http://www.cotni.org/75-smilepacks.

    Drugs could equal stroke

Increasing rates of amphetamine and cocaine usage by young adults boost their risk of stroke, according to a study from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. UT Southwestern physicians studied 8,300 stroke patients who were 18-44 years old and found that substance abuse, especially methamphetamine use, directly harms the central nervous system.
