UA point guard Nic Wise is a candidate for the 2010 Bob Cousy Award, it was announced Wednesday by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Wise is one of 72 players in all three NCAA divisions up for the award, and one of 50 at the Division I level. The award is given to the nation’s top point guard.
The 5-foot-10, 177-pound senior is averaging 16 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game in nine games this season, all starts. He is shooting 42.2 percent (46-of-109) from the field, including 37.2 percent (16-of-43) from behind the arc, to go with 94.7 percent (36-of-38) from the free throw line.
The list of candidates will be cut down to 20 on Jan. 1, and to 10 on Feb. 1 before the final five candidates are announced on March 1.
The Bob Cousy Award will be announced on Monday, April 5, as part of the Final Four festivities in Indianapolis.
