Sculpture dedication today
The College of Optical Sciences will dedicate a crystal sculpture by renowned artist Christopher Ries today at 11 a.m. in the main lobby of the Meinel Optical Sciences addition. The sculpture, “”Desert Flower,”” is valued at more than $100,000 and was donated to the UA.
Mud on the Mall
The annual Homecoming mud tug-of-war will take place today at noon on the UA Mall. Various organizations will square off against each other in a giant pit of mud.
Stick to Water
People who drink large quantities of fizzy drinks or add sugar to coffee or tea run a higher risk of developing cancer of the pancreas, according to a study released yesterday in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Out of almost 80,000 people, the group who said they drank fizzy or syrup-based drinks twice a day or more ran a 90 percent higher risk of getting cancer of the pancreas than those who never drank them.
