As a part of its 2022-23 season, Broadway in Tucson is bringing the popular musical about Little Orphan Annie to Centennial Hall for a six-day run beginning Jan. 3, 2023.

Krista Curry, playing the role of the conniving Lily St. Regis, is ecstatic for this production of “Annie” to make its way to Tucson.

“I am so psyched to be going back to Tucson and it’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever been,” Curry said, who was in Arizona Theatre Company’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof” in 2016.

In the cities where the national touring production of “Annie” has been, tickets have been selling really well. Curry said she is hoping for the same, if not a better turnout at Centennial Hall on the University of Arizona campus.

The audience can expect to see sets designed by Wilson Chin and solid talent from the young actor playing Annie, Ellie Rose Pulsifer.

Directed by Jenn Thompson, the musical “Annie” is the iconic story of Little Orphan Annie who is placed in an orphanage then finds herself in all sorts of shenanigans as a shady couple claiming to be her dead parents try to whisk her away from the orphanage before she is rescued by the rich Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks.

The play was written by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin and features the popular song “Tomorrow,” which might bring back some nostalgia for many people in the audience.

The show is a friendly reminder to hold onto hope so you can overcome all of the hard knocks life brings you.
