Cookies provide another reason to party

Cookies: You gotta love ’em. And especially during the holiday season, cookies are a very important part of life. So what better way to bring your posse together than to have a cookie-making party?

It’s simple to pull off and it doesn’t matter what gender you are. Pick a cookie recipe that’s not too difficult and that everyone can enjoy, whether it be chocolate chip, sugar or peanut butter. If you’re doing a plain cookie, be sure to have a few cookie cutters on hand and maybe some frosting and toppings – sprinkles, M&M’s, gum drops, whatever you like. You can also pick up a gingerbread house kit from the store – World Market or Trader Joe’s often have good ones – and skip the whole baking bit.

Pick up a few Christmas movies from the video store, from your own or a friend’s private collection or by illegal download (you naughty thief, you!) Some good options include old claymation flicks like “”Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,”” childhood favorites such as “”Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas”” or “”The Christmas Story”” – or something for the girls, “”Love Actually.””

Flip on the boob tube when your pals arrive and start mixing the dough. Pass around some hot cocoa and a bottle of (insert liquor of your choice here). The combination of baking sweets, delicious drinks and hypnotic television sights and sounds will keep everyone happy and interested in something.

When the cookies are done baking, whip out the toppers and get everyone to work. Be creative with your decorations – anything goes, from ninja Santa Clauses to anatomically correct gingerbread men and women.

The best part is biting the heads off your creations as you finish off the last of the movies.
