Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez has said they he likes to “collect quarterbacks.” Apparently he collects high profile transfers too.

On Monday, former Texas quarterback Connor Brewer announced on Twitter that he will transfer to the UA.

Brewer, a 6-2 195 pound pro-style quarterback, led Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. to three consecutive state championships and threw a state record 100 touchdown passes.

ESPN ranked Brewer as the seventh best quarterback and Sporting News had him as the 25th best overall prospect in the 2012 class. Brewer chose Texas over Alabama, Notre Dame and USC.

Brewer joins Davonte’ Neal, another high school All-American from Chaparral, who transferred the Arizona from Notre Dame. Neal was Gatorade Arizona player of the year as a junior and senior.

Transfers must sit out a season at their new school.

Neal applied to play in 2013, but at Pac-12 Media Day Rodriguez said he does not think the hardship waiver will be granted.

Neal played as a true freshman, meaning he will be a sophomore and Brewer will have three years of eligibility left after redshirting as athletes have five years, counting redshirts, to play four.

Another Texas player, Cayleb Jones, tweeted that he is considering Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, East Carolina, UCLA, Clemson and Auburn. Jones is a sophomore receiver from Austin, Texas, who was ranked as the 21st best wideout in his high school class by ESPN.

Last fall Jesse Scroggins transferred to Arizona from El Camino College after starting his college career at USC. He will compete for the starting quarterback job this season after transferring from a junior college.
