    An apple for your eye

A diet rich in antioxidant foods like fruits and vegetables helps prevent the onset of age-related macular degeneration, which is the leading cause of blindness for senior Americans, according to a recent Harvard study. The study tracked 934 people between the ages of 67 and 71 and found that those who consumed higher levels of vitamin C, beta-carotene and antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin had lower levels of C-reactive protein and homocysteine – both of which have been linked to increases in AMD.
