The Women’s Liberation Movement, a group that will work for changes in the status of women in society, is being organized in Tucson by a University freshman.
Joy Chamberlain, a mathematics major and the founder of the movement, sent by the organization will try to help women in three area– the University, high schools and the rest of the community.
She said that in the University changes should be made in discriminatory dormitory rules that allow men but not women to live off campus before the age of 21.
The organization will educate high schools girls on women’s rights and birth control, and in the community will try to change unfair wage and hiring practices, she said.
A meeting will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Peace and Freedom Association,, 1028 E. 6th St., for any women interested in the movement.
