The 2020 offseason was a long one for the Arizona Wildcats. In early August, the Pac-12 and the Big Ten announced that their conferences would not be playing football this season. This decision caused many college players to find a new home, including eight players from the Arizona Wildcats. 

Since then, both conferences have decided to have a season. While the first game for the Wildcats ended in a cancelation after positive COVID-19 tests were found within Utah’s football program, some of their former players have begun their 2020 season. Here’s an update on how they’re doing at their new respected schools.  

Colin Schooler

Starting off with probably the most impactful transfer, linebacker Colin Schooler decided to play for Texas Tech in his 2020 season. He is coming off his best game of the season, where he recorded eight total tackles to go along with his first sack of the season in a 34-18 loss to TCU. So far this season Schooler has recorded 38 total tackles and one sack. 

Brenden Schooler

Arizona fans were excited to see Oregon transfer Brenden Schooler play with his brother Colin this season. Ultimately, he also decided to play elsewhere this season due to the pandemic. Schooler was granted immediate eligibility to play at the University of Texas this season and has appeared in four games where he caught 11 passes for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns. 

Tony Fields II

Arizona lost their second linebacker of the offseason when Tony Fields II decided to transfer to West Virginia. Fields is having another great season as he has 65 total tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception through seven games. Fields also had a career-high 15 total tackles in a single game in the 37-10 win against No. 16 Kansas State.

Scottie Young Jr.

Arizona’s former starting safety Scottie Young Jr. also decided to transfer to West Virginia. Unfortunately for Young, his immediate eligibility waiver was denied by the NCAA and will have to sit out the 2020 season. 

Day Day Coleman

Arizona’s linebacker core continued to get smaller as redshirt sophomore Day Day Coleman decided to move to Stephen F. Austin this summer. Coleman has appeared in two games this season where he tallied 10 total tackles — which ties the amount of tackles Coleman had last season at Arizona.    

Devaughn Cooper

Wide receiver Devaughn Cooper decided to play his senior year with the UTEP Miners. This season, Cooper has appeared in five games where he caught 9 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown. 

Troy Young

Another former Arizona safety decided to transfer as Troy Young decided to play at UAB this season. Young has not appeared in a game yet this season. 

Kylan Wilborn

The offseason turnover for the Wildcats was not quite done as defensive end Kylan Wilborn chose to enter his name in the transfer portal on Sept. 23. He has not made his decision on where he will play next.
