If you read the Daily Wildcat article from last Thursday, Feb. 4, on former Arizona Wildcat Rob Gronkowski appearing in his 10th career Super Bowl, you would know that the key to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers success on Sunday would be getting Gronkowski involved early and often.

The Bucs and Tom Brady did just that.

Tampa Bay’s first two drives were both three and outs, as Brady couldn’t get much offense going and played a little passive early on.

In the third drive, the Bucs marched into the red zone and had the ball at the eight-yard line.

Yeah, you’re right, Brady connected with his longtime teammate and friend Rob Gronkowski for an eight-yard touchdown off a slant route to give the Bucs an early first-quarter lead. Fast forward two possessions, Brady dropped back and found a wide-open Gronk in the end zone for an 18-yard touchdown.

Gronkowski had an overall incredible performance and once again proved, on the biggest stage in the world, he is one of the greatest tight ends of all time. After taking a year off from football to sign with a new team in his 10th season in the NFL, Gronk has proved all of his doubters wrong and looks rejuvenated and as dominant as he did six years ago with the Patriots.

Gronk finished the game with six catches for 67 yards and two touchdown catches, which was good enough to lead the team in targets, catches, receptions, yards and touchdowns in the game. Last night’s performance brings him to 100 career total touchdowns and 14 in his postseason career.

Another season, another Super Bowl victory for Brady and Gronkowski. We do not know how many more times we will be saying that, but as long as they are playing, you most likely will see them on the field in late January/early February.

Gronk said postgame that he will be back next season to compete again, but if he does nothing else in his career, he has won six Super Bowls in 10 seasons in the NFL and has been a big contributor on each team he has been on.
