Men’s swim on point in first day of Pac-10s

The Arizona men’s swimming team completed its first day of Pacific 10 Championships in Federal Way, Wash., yesterday. There were finals in just two events last night, the 200-yard medley relay and the 800y freestyle relay.

Arizona pulled out a first-place win in the 800y freestyle relay. The team of seniors Simon Burnett, Lyndon Ferns and Tyler DeBerry and sophomore Adam Ritter clocked in a lightning fast NCAA qualifying time of 6:18.70.

In the 200y medley relay, the Arizona “”A”” relay team of sophomore Albert Subirats, and seniors Dave Rollins, Ferns and Burnett came in second place in 1:25.76. They came in just behind the California Golden Bears, who clocked in a time of 1:25.44. The Wildcats came away with a NCAA qualifying time for the event.

The events on the plate of the Wildcats for tomorrow are the 500y freestyle relay, 200y Individual Medley, 50y freestyle and the 200y freestyle relay.
