    Discover Iran

    Near Eastern studies is having a departmental seminar today at 2 p.m. in the Marshall building,, Room 490. Professor Kamran Talattof will talk about “”Gendered Iran: Modernity, Sexuality and Popular Arts,”” based on his forthcoming book. For more information call the NES office at 520-621-8013.

    Burger King gets healthy

    Burger King will start offering healthier fast food items in its kids’ meals. The meals have fewer than 560 calories, and contain less than 30 percent of calories from fat and no more than 10 percent of calories from added sugar. New options include flame-broiled chicken tenders, low-fat milk and apples cut to resemble french fries.

    Last semester’s Border Beat, an online publication within the journalism department, was named a finalist for the 2007 Online Journalism awards presented by the Online News Association and the Annenberg School of Communication. Awards will be presented at the ONA Conference in Toronto,
    Oct. 18-19.
