A month into the new year brings a new opportunity for Tucson foodies; Comida Park, a new gathering place for several food trucks opens Feb. 10.

Located at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet at 4100 S. Palo Verde Rd., the park is set for a grand opening from Feb. 10 through Feb. 12. Comida Park will be an addition to the swap meet, welcoming up to 22 food trucks at the moment. Rob Sieban, CEO and co-owner of United Flea Markets, is hoping for quite the welcome.

“We’re really excited to be a part of the community. We have been so appreciative of the acceptance within the community and we have so many thoughts and ideas about growing the business out there, both from the food truck park and swap meet,” Sieban said.

Some of the food trucks that will be in attendance include Ol’ Pot Hole, Eggroll Masters, Bobablastic and Churros El Rey, just to name a few. The first 500 people at the opening also get a free koozie when they purchase a drink at the bar.

There were over 100 applications to get into the park, but with the capacity at 37 trucks in the park, Sieban did end up sticking with about 22 trucks. There was a lot of interest, so Sieban is hoping to keep rotating some of the spots out.

“We will certainly be having new food trucks come in, and some food trucks may rotate out, so we want to continue to bring freshness. But there will be a mainstay of a core number of food trucks that repeat customers just love to come back and see,” Sieban said.

Comida Park will be open seven days a week, Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The initial charge to get into the park will be $1 per person.
