After Arizona’s defense struggled against UTSA in their opening game of the season, the Wildcats made adjustments. So much so, that Arizona defeated Nevada 44-20. Within the first four possessions of the game against Nevada, for which the Wildcats defeated the Wolfpack, Arizona’s defense came up with two stops and the offense added two touchdowns.
Behind Nick Wilson and his three touchdown performance, plus tack on 194 yards on the ground, Arizona was a better team all the way around. Sure, they still have their flakes. Arizona kicker Casey Skowron missed two kicks out of three. Linebacker Haden Gregory, who replaced the injured Scooby Wright, also succumbed to a knee injury. But overall, this Wildcats team looked much more poised to win big games, especially on the road.
Offensive Player of the Game: Nick Wilson — 21 attempts, 194 yards and three touchdowns
