Phoenix med school gets $5M
Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, a private foundation in Maricopa County, donated $5 million to the UA Foundation for the UA College of Medicine in Phoenix last week. The donation will establish the Virginia G. Piper Fund for Excellence, with $3 million going toward faculty recruitment for the new medical school campus. The remaining $2 million will be used to match future private gifts.
Kappa Sigma blood drive

Don’t stop believin’
Eighty-five percent of U.S. doctors say religious faith can help patients have a “”good outcome,”” according to a new study recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Of the 1,144 doctors who participated in the study, only 1 percent said they believe faith and spirituality have a negative effect on patients.
