The Green Career Mixer, an on-campus event coordinated through the Office of Employer and Alumni Direction, is a way for students to connect with sustainably-minded companies.
Last spring, Student for Sustainability expressed the need for a career fair that could help connect companies devoted to sustainability to students on campus. The Green Career Mixer proved to be successful among students and was very well-attended, so it’s coming back to bring even more networking opportunities to students, according to Peter Corrigan, associate director of Employer and Alumni Direction.

Since interest in sustainability jobs has increased, Corrigan, the event’s coordinator, advises that students look for “companies that practice sustainability in every aspect of their production process.”
An example he uses for students is the Gallows Wine Company in California. They use recycled glass to manufacture their wine bottles, and nearly 70 percent of the state’s recycled glass can be traced back to Gallows Wine Co.
The event is preparing to have 20 companies attend, according to Corrigan. Among these are the Coca-Cola Company, Freeport-McMoRAN, Borderlands Brewing Company, Imperfect Produce and Fairfax.
The on-campus program Students with Sustainability will also be present at the Mixer, but all students are welcome. Students from all majors are encouraged by Corrigan to attend.
The Green Career Mixer will be taking place at the Student Memorial Center’s North Ballroom Sept. 25 from 4:30-7 p.m.
