The men’s and women’s track and field team will host the Arizona International tomorrow in what head coach Fred Harvey calls a “”low-key meet.””
“”The last two weeks have been a pretty major haul,”” Harvey said. “”We have to make sure we’re letting their bodies regenerate and prepare for invitational season in April and the championship season in May.””
Several athletes on the team will take the week off in preparation for the Texas Relays and Combined Events April 6-7.
ASU, NAU, New Mexico and athletes from China and Africa will compete tomorrow, while the UA distance contingent will compete in the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
Junior Dan Austin, who already regionally qualified for the NCAA West Regional Championships, will throw in the discus for the second time this season tomorrow.
“”My first meet was a little disappointing,”” Austin said. “”I’m just getting into a better rhythm, feeling stronger and more into the groove.
Senior Troy Harris and junior Nick Mossburg will use the meet to work on their mechanics.
“”I’m changing my form a little bit and running a little more relaxed,”” Harris said.
