    This Day at the UA

On Sept. 21, 2000, the Arizona Daily Wildcat reported that two UA researchers were getting closer to discovering how the microscopic parasite in water flourishes. Charles Gerba, professor of environmental biology, said microsporidia is difficult to detect because it is a single-cell parasite that can get through most filters. Its origin is not known, he said.

Also that day, the Wildcat reported that a car had smashed through the house of four UA students the previous day. According to UA police, the car was going southbound on North Cherry Avenue when another car failed to yield; it then jumped the curb, rolled through the front yard and ran through the house’s front bedroom. No one was inside the house at the time and no one was injured.
