“Rooted” is the first annual art exhibition organized to benefit Tucson Clean and Beautiful, Inc., a local nonprofit organization. The organization works to “preserve and improve our environment, conserve natural resources and enhance the quality of life in the city of Tucson and eastern Pima County,” according to its website.

Proceeds from the event and the art sales will be given to both Tucson Clean and Beautiful, Inc. and its Trees for Tucson program. The show begins Friday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Crooked Tooth Brewing Company.

Tucson Clean and Beautiful, Inc. says planting trees for shade has several advantages for both the environment and the community. In addition to absorbing carbon dioxide emissions, creating fresh air and providing a habitat for local wildlife, planting trees also adds beauty and property value, reduces stress and anxiety and brings the community together.

The festivities of “Rooted” are just the beginning of a month-long art show. For the entire month of November, pieces of art featuring trees and nature will be displayed and sold at Crooked Tooth Brewing Company.

Local artist Marcy Ellis partnered with Tucson Clean and Beautiful Inc. and Trees for Tucson to create the event and fundraiser.

“Together we were able to curate an incredible collection of art representing trees and desert flora,” Ellis said. “Our team searched for a location that could showcase artwork and bring the community together in a safe and fun environment. The incredibly loving crew at Crooked Tooth Brewing Company excitedly opened their doors to host this first annual event. This is the first art show for Trees for Tucson and Tucson Clean and Beautiful, but it surely will not be the last.”

Twenty-five artists have contributed pieces dedicated to the nature of the Sonoran Desert. Besides the art show, the debut evening of “Rooted” will also feature live music from the local Naim Amor Trio. There will also be food trucks present.

Additionally, from 7 to 8 p.m. on the night of the event, Crooked Teeth Brewing Company will donate 25 percent of all beer sales to Trees for Tucson.

“Trees for Tucson and Tucson Clean and Beautiful is the community platform for volunteer environmental activism,” Ellis said. “The support from this art exhibition helps Trees for Tucson plant trees to cool and shade Tucson. … This event will give Tucsonans an opportunity to connect with these nonprofits and learn more about how and why we can shade Tucson.”
