A Rancho Cucamonga teenager was shot and killed last week by a homeowner in Reno, Nevada.
Brandon LeBlanc, 19, waved a handgun at the homeowner who shot him several times during a confrontation, authorities said.
Investigators said LeBlanc was dropped off about 30 minutes after the shooting at a hospital in Reno. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
“”According to the resident, he acted in self defense discharging his weapon, which, ultimately, led to a young man being shot and killed during the confrontation,”” Reno police Sgt. Rick Bjelke said.
Just before 9:45 p.m. April 6, officers were called to the 3300 block of Everett Drive following a report of gunshots.
The homeowner told investigators he armed himself with a 9mm handgun after noticing a pickup drive past his home several times. At least three people were inside the pickup, which eventually parked close to the homeowner’s residence, Bjelke said.
“”The reporting party stated when he went to investigate the suspicious vehicle he was confronted with what he reported to be deadly force,”” Bjelke said.
Detectives are investigating the shooting, but no charges have yet been filed against the homeowner.
Police officers did not release the name of the homeowner.
LeBlanc also lived in Sparks, Nev., said an official in the Washoe County Medical Examiner and Coroner’s Office.
